What Does a Pink Slip Inspection Involve?
A pink slip inspection covers key safety systems and structural components of your vehicle. Our licensed inspectors check tyres, brakes, suspension, lights, seatbelts, steering, exhaust systems and underbody condition. We also test windscreen washers and ensure your vehicle meets roadworthiness standards.
If your car passes, the result is sent straight to RMS/Service NSW. If it doesn’t, you’ll receive a detailed report and up to 14 days to carry out the necessary repairs before reinspection.

What is a pink slip?
A pink slip, or eSafety check, is a mandatory vehicle inspection report required for light vehicles more than five years old when renewing registration in NSW. It confirms that the vehicle meets minimum safety standards set by the state. Once the inspection is completed, the results are electronically submitted to Service NSW, allowing you to proceed with your registration renewal.
How long does a pink slip last?
A pink slip is valid for 42 days from the date of issue. You must complete your registration renewal within that period. If you wait longer than 42 days, you’ll need to have the vehicle inspected again and a new pink slip issued. It's best to plan your inspection close to your registration due date to maximise the validity period.
How long does a pink slip inspection take?
Most pink slip inspections take between 30-45 minutes, depending on the condition of the vehicle. If your car is in good shape, the process is quick. However, if safety issues are found, you’ll be given a list of required repairs and a chance to return within 14 days for a recheck. Booking ahead can help avoid wait times during busy rego periods.
